Jake Phillips - Music is the literature of the heart; it commences where speech ends!
After seeing his year 1 teacher play her steel pan in a school assembly, Jake became fascinated with the instrument and begged his mum to find him some classes.
After two years thinking this would be impossible to find, an advert for Westside Steel Orchestra started Jake’s journey into the steel pan world at age 8.

Jake’s musical journey has been shaped by too many to mention including Chris storey, Russell Roberts, Dan Sadler, Martin Jay and Duvone Stewart. Pan Nation has become another family for Jake, looking out for him, developing his musical skills and feeding his love for Caribbean food!

Steelpan music has assisted Jake through tough times at school and built his confidence in so many ways. Jake is forever grateful to Chris Storey and Pan Nation for teaching him for all these years and always believing in him and affording him the opportunities to grow musically. Jake has big plans for the future which include more arranging for PNSO Bradley, travelling to Trinidad Panorama in his gap year and playing in every Panorama he possibly can.
Panpodium wishes Jake all the best in his future musical career. Hoping that he continues to promote the Steelpan culture and its music to uncharted terrorities and audiences.
