No money owed to steelbands, Culture Minister says
Government has no outstanding sums to pay to steelbands.
So said Culture Minister Nyan Gadsby-Dolly as she responded to a question in the Senate on Tuesday. She said the records of the Ministry do not indicate that the Government owes any monies to steelpan members. The Minister said that Government, through the National Carnival Commission (NCC) underwrites the cost, which is executed by Pan Trinbago – a private institution which sits on the board of the NCC.
She noted that all funds for Panorama 2018 have been disbursed. Funding for Panorama 2019 is being released in tranches, as is customary, Gadsby-Dolly added.
