'PanGEA (Pan Global Education Alliance) workshop plans to bring pan education into the 21st century'
Dear Fellow Educators,
Months ago you received an email asking for your participation in a survey related to your interests in steelpan education. We are now excited to announce that, based on your responses, we have developed the first culturally immersive professional development workshop for steelband educators, which is to be held in August and is now open for registration.
Cultural immersion in the traditional music and culture of Trinidad is one key facet of the PanGEA experience. More importantly, however, we train teachers to facilitate peer-to-peer education, discovery, and improvisation among their students. And we introduce new and more relevant content and criteria for assessment of proficiency with the steelpan, which is but one fruit on the tree of Afro-diasporic music.
Take a look around the website, share with colleagues and whoever else may be interested, and let us know what you think.
Thanks again for helping us create this.
